What is an AI Operating System (AI OS)?
An AI Operating System (AI OS) is the layer beneath AI applications that provides kernel-level primitives for inference, knowledge graphs, identity, governance, and compounding learning — without depending on a foreign cloud. AdiOS is India's first AI OS: it runs sovereign and external models alike, enforces compliance at every cross-component call, and keeps long-term memory inside the sovereign boundary. Unlike a hosted model (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) or a cloud platform, an AI OS is sovereign-by-architecture and air-gap friendly.
How is AdiOS different from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini?
ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini are hosted AI models delivered by foreign cloud companies. AdiOS is the sovereign Operating System that runs AI workloads — including those models, plus Indian sovereign models like Sarvam and BharatGen — on customer-controlled hardware. AdiOS provides the kernel, runtime, knowledge graph, governance ring, service mesh, FHIR/cGMP profiles, and compliance enforcement. A chatbot can sit on top of AdiOS; AdiOS itself is the platform layer, not the chatbot.
What is the difference between AdiOS and COS?
COS (Circular Operating System) is the architectural blueprint inside AdiOS. AdiOS is the operating system built from that blueprint — the building. You don't sell the blueprint. You sell the building. The blueprint is what makes the building extraordinary. COS defines five pillars (Sovereign AI, Touching Lives, Distributed, Ecosystem, Circular), six platform invariants enforced as code, and the circular intelligence loop (Patent S8). Where is AdiOS hosted? Is it on a foreign cloud?
AdiOS is sovereign-by-architecture. It deploys on-premises by default, supports air-gapped operation via the Meridian CRDT (Platform Invariant #3), and never moves long-term memory outside the sovereign boundary. Optional managed deployments exist but are not the default product. Customers in Mumbai and Munich run AdiOS on the same codebase without sending data to a foreign cloud.
What regulations does AdiOS comply with?
AdiOS ships 421 automated compliance controls across 13 regulators in adios-regionkit. India: DPDP Act 2023, RBI FREE-AI, SEBI ALGO-AUDIT, IRDAI, ABDM (HIP/HIU), CDSCO, Schedule M (revised 2024). EU: GDPR Article 9, EHDS (Reg 2025/327), EU MDR, EU IVDR, EU GMP Annex 11. Plus a baseline PII classification pack. Compliance is enforced at the kernel layer by adios-sentinel, not bolted on as a UI checkbox.
